Hulk Rules

Don't it make his brown eyes green.

It's not the, well, banner weekend some expected, but it's hard to argue that The Hulk's weekend number is disappointing when it's setting a June opening record.

The Hulk

Earning an estimated $24.9 million Friday, Hulk will easily SMASH the June record held by Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. As for its weekend estimate, we need only look at the 2.52 of X2 and the 2.91 for Spider-Man as a range. Even though it's not a sequel, The Hulk is more likely to end up on somewhere in the middle of that scale. A 2.75 multiplier for the weekend gives the Ang Lee film an impressive $68.5 million weekend.

Alex & Emma

In another sign that counterprogramming with a movie targeted at women is a bad idea this summer, the Kate Hudson/Luke Wilson romantic comedy earned an unremarkable $2.3 million on Friday. The remainder of the weekend won't help all that much either, even though it should have a 3.1 multiplier. Alex & Emma will finish the weekend around $7.1 million, and vanish quickly from here.

From Justin To Kelly

I can't make any cracks about this movie that haven't already been said. Just try not to laugh too hard at the estimated $1.2 million Friday gross and when it finishes outside of the top ten with a $3 million weekend.

Notable Holdovers

Hollywood Homicide will likely end up as the highest-profile flop of the summer, as it drops 53% from last Friday. The Harrison Ford/Josh Hartnett flick should be down around 45-50% for the weekend.

Rugrats Go Wild falls 56%, and will end up down about 50%. Lastly, Dumb and Dumberer plunges 63% and that looks like its weekend decline as well. Good riddance.
