Friday Box Office Analysis

3:10 to Yuma
The western-actioner with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale easily took the top slot on Friday with $4.4 million. Just remember that it's September, so expectations are a bit lower. This is not a bad figure at all, especially considering that westerns are a tough sell and neither Crowe or Bale have established themselves as solid draws yet. It'll bring in a few more idly curious over the weekend, especially with the solid reviews its earned. Look for a 3.1 multiplier, good for an opening weekend of $13.6 million.
Shoot 'Em Up
Throwing out even more action than 3:10 to Yuma, Shoot 'Em Up didn't succeed as much as the box office, pulling in $2 million on Friday. It'll come in with an okay $5.4 million for the weekend, but will be an instant cult classic on DVD.
Halloween
After a record setting Labor Day weekend, Halloween drops 73% from a week ago. Ouch, but it's not like nobody saw this coming. It's still solidly in second for the weekend (call it $9.5 million) and will be just under $50 million at the end of the weekend, so Rob Zombie and company probably aren't too torn up about it.
