Pete Kilmer has been in the comics retail industry for ten years as a member of Downtown Comics in Indianapolis. Downtown Comics is one of the Midwest's largest comic retailers with over four locations in Indianapolis. All opinions are his own, and they cannot be bought with free swag. Beer and a walk on role on Burn Notice to steal Fiona from Michael Weston and I'm a bought man.
Pete's brand new laptop computer melted a little bit, so we'll fill in for him as best we can with regard to releases to watch for this week. There will be bias involved, of course.
The biggest and best news for the week (to my mind, anyway) is the fact that Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft is out in trade paperback. I've had several friends commenting that the price of the hardback is a bit too high, so this is well-timed in that it gives me yet one more opportunity to talk it up. It's by Joe Hill and tells the story of a family that is terrorized by demons both human and otherworldly. To say more would be to ruin the experience, but I will note that the art by Gabriel Rodriguez is so good that I had chills at one point in the story.
Also worthy of note are the Angel: After the Fall trade paperback and the Metal Men trade paperback. Since I've only mentioned trades so far, a few books that stand out include Buffy the Vampire Slayer #27, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep #2 (a Philip K. Dick adaptation - you might best know it as Blade Runner), and Secret Six #12, because I know Gail Simone is so proud of it. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
