Pete Kilmer has been in the comics retail industry for ten years as a member of Downtown Comics in Indianapolis. Downtown Comics is one of the Midwest's largest comic retailers with over four locations in Indianapolis. All opinions are his own, and they cannot be bought with free swag. Beer and a walk on role on Chuck to steal Sarah from Chuck and I'm bought.

It's kind of a small week. Kevin Smith finishes up Batman Cacophony. Black Panther #2 hits and some other odds and ends. Of course, it's Watchmen week at the theaters, and I had a chance to see it on the IMAX on Monday. It is a solid movie - I give it a B. Jackie Earl Haley as Rorschach is just outstanding in the film, but some of the other actors just fell flat. As for the "change" to the ending, I was perfectly fine with it and thought it worked well for the film. There are some truly awesome moments, like the title sequence, but other times it was a really flat movie. While I enjoyed it quite a bit and do recommend it to other comic fans, there is no way Watchmen has any legs at the box office after this week. It's not Dark Knight. It's not Iron Man. Hell, it's not even Ratner's crappy X-Men 3 film. The general public is going to have a tough time with Watchmen.

Kim's Picks

It's that time of month where I beg and plead for people to read Joe Hill's Locke & Key. If you haven't listened to me yet, listen to me now. Go buy the trade version of the first series and pick up the first three comics in the second series immediately. Hill knows how to scare. When you're reading his stuff, you never want it to end. There are very few comics (or other books) that I can say that about.
