This week marks the premiere of most of the remaining series on network television. The CW starts out its scripted programming on Monday with the surprising return of 7th Heaven. It follows that with the first new series on the network, Runaway. The series about a family on the run after the father is wrongfully accused of murder faces tough competition from the premiere of Heroes on NBC. With this series about people discovering they have powers and its lead-out Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, NBC has both a surprisingly strong group of new series and what should be a very competitive Monday night lineup.

On Tuesday ABC brings us the latest Ted Danson sitcom, Help Me Help You. The big premiere of the night, though, is over on the CW. Gilmore Girls returns, sans Palladinos, for what is likely its final season. Hopefully new show runner David Rosenthal can give it the quality send-off it deserves.

The following night ABC will have a recap of Lost's second season to get everyone prepared for next week's season premiere. That or they put together a clip show because they know anything with Lost in the title will bring them ratings. The only other premiere of the night is One Tree Hill on The CW. Sorry, Everwood fans.

On Thursday ABC brings us Ugly Betty, an American adaptation of a Colombian soap opera. The CW returns The WB's lineup of Smallville and Supernatural. Both series will add Veronica Mars alums this season. Alona Tal, Meg Manning on Veronica Mars, will have a recurring role on Supernatural starting with the second episode. Joining Smallville as Jimmy Olsen is Aaron Ashmore, Troy Vandegraff on Veronica Mars. Also joining Smallville in a recurring role is Justin Hartley. He may have lost his Aquaman role when Mercy Reef wasn't picked up, but playing Oliver Queen on Smallville is a step up.

The only premiere on Friday is the two and a half hour second season premiere of Doctor Who on Sci Fi. The second season, already having aired on The BBC, is fantastic, and the finale is one of the best in recent memory.

The CW debuts its comedy night on Sunday starting with the returns of Everybody Hates Chris, All of Us, and Girlfriends. After Girfriends is new series The Game, a spin off of its lead-in. The other premiere of the night is Dexter on Showtime. It follows a forensics expert who is also a serial killer, with his victims being other killers he thinks have evaded justice.
