Michel Gondry to helm adaptation?

Michel Gondry is in talks to helm The Green Hornet. There were rumors that the project was sliding into development hell over at Columbia, but the studio is committed to making the Seth Rogen feature a 2010 tentpole release.

Stephen Chow steps down from director's chair

Stephen Chow will no longer helm The Green Hornet for Columbia Pictures. However, Chow will still star as Kato alongside actor Seth Rogen. The studio and producer Neal Moritz are now in the process of selecting a new director to keep the project on track to begin production early next year.

Columbia Options The Green Hornet

Columbia Pictures has picked up the rights to The Green Hornet, and Neal H. Moritz will produce the picture. The story follows millionaire publisher Brit Reid and his adventures as his alter ego, the masked Green Hornet. It has been seen and heard in various other incarnations through the years, including a 1930s radio serial, a 1960s tv program, low budget films, and comic book form. The project was previously held by both Universal and Miramax and various artists have been attached including Kevin Smith, George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jet Li.
