Yune joins Memoirs of a Geisha
Karl Yune (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid) has joined the cast of the epic Memoirs of a Geisha, to be directed by Rob Marshall. Already signed for major roles in the film are Zhang Ziyi in the primary role, Ken Watanabe as her romantic interest, Michelle Yeoh, Gong Li, Youki Kudoh and Koji Yakusho. The movie is based on the popular Arthur Golden novel by the same title.

Zhang Ziyi is a Geisha
Zhang Ziyi and Ken Watanabe have been signed as the romantic leads in Memoirs of a Geisha for Columbia Pictures and DreamWorks. The Chinese-born Zhang will play the central role of Sayuri, the beautiful young orphan who is a child in a fishing village. Her life is changed forever when she is sent off to the city to learn the ways of a geisha. The story traces her life from youth to her senior years. During the course of her story, she falls in love with a man called "The Chairman." Watanabe will play that role.
Rob Marshall is directing the film, which is based on a book by Arthur Golden. Ron Bass, Akiva Goldsman and Robin Swicord adapted the screenplay. Other actors currently in discussions for supporting roles are Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh, Yuki Kudo and Koji Yakusho.
