DreamWorks scores a Match Point
DreamWorks has acquired North American distribution rights for Woody Allen's dark relationship thriller Match Point. The movie recently screened out of competition at Cannes and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a social climbing tennis instructor who finds himself fortunate enough to marry into a wealthy family. Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer, Matthew Goode, Brian Cox and Penelope Wilton also star. The movie was extremely well-reviewed at Cannes, with many believing it might have won the Palme d'Or had it been in competition.

Scarlett Johannson gets Woody.
Kate Winslet has decided she needs to spend more time in the eternal
sunshine, so she has dropped out of Woody Allen's 36th film. Her
replacement ain't bad, though. Scarlett Johansson will comprise the role
formerly assigned to Winslet. She joins Emily Mortimer and Jonathan
Rhys-Meyers as confirmed cast for the project.
