Sony controls Monster House
Sony has picked up the animated film Monster House from DreamWorks, where it was in turnaround. Like the upcoming Polar Express, the movie will use "performance capture" animation, a process known as ImageMotion that believably records the movements of real-life characters and converts them to toons. This process was actually developed by Sony Pictures Imageworks.
The movie is based on a pitch from Gil Kenan, who will direct. It tells the story of three children who discover that a neighbor's house is a real, live monster. Though they attempt to stop the house's evil plans, the adults don't believe the kids' claims.
