Brewster ready to be scared
New Line is in talks with Jordana Brewster to star in the prequel to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The as-yet untitled film will once again center on a group of kids who come across the terrifying, chainsaw-wielding killer. In addition, we'll learn the story of Leatherface's beginnings. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will once again produce through Platinum Dunes. Jonathan Liebesman is directing from a screenplay by Sheldon Turner.

Director aboard Texas Chainsaw prequel
New Line Cinema has hired Jonathan Liebesman to direct its Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. Based on a screenplay by Sheldon Turner with a rewrite from David Schow, the story will go back in time to show Leatherface's origins.

New Line and Bay prep Chainsaw prequel
After a contentious battle for rights with Dimension Films, New Line Cinema and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production shingle have secured rights to make a prequel to their remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The studio has assigned screenwriter Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard) to write the project, which will center around a group of sibling soldiers who find themselves crossing paths with a chainsaw-wielding maniac.
