Trio Join Newell's Cholera
John Leguizamo (Summer of Sam), Hector Elizondo (Runaway Bride) and Fernanda Montenegro (Central Station) have joined the cast of director Mike Newell's romnantic drama Love in the Time of Cholera. The adaption of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's book follows the story of one man's romantic pursuit of a woman over five decades.

Catalina Finding Love in Time
Catalina Sandino Moreno is close to signing on to co-star in the film adaptation of Love in the Time of Cholera for New Line Cinema and director Mike Newell. The young actress previously starred in 2004's Maria Full of Grace for which she recieved much critical acclaim and even an Oscar nomination. She also appears in the upcoming Fast Food Nation.

Italian actress Giovanna Mezzogiorno will star as the female love interest in Love in the Time of Cholera. Filming is currently set to begin in Brazil in mid-August.

Bardem has Love
Javier Bardem has signed to star in New Line's adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera. Mike Newell is directing from a screenplay by Ron Harwood. The movie follows a man who attempts to romance a woman over the course of five decades. The book was a major publishing sensation in 1985.

Director falls in Love for New Line
Mike Newell is in talks to direct the adaptation of Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera. Ron Harwood, who won an Academy Award for his script for The Pianist, wrote the screenplay. The movie's center is a love triangle that takes place against the backdrop of the turn of the century in South America. Two lovers wait through the turbulence of careers, marriages, deaths and affairs before they are finally able to reunite.

New Line has Love in the Time of Cholera
New Line Cinema has acquired the screen rights to Nobel Award winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez' novel Love in the Time of Cholera. Love in the Time of Cholera big prospect for Stone Village
Scott Steindorff's Stone Village Pictures production shingle has paid in excess of $1 million for the rights to the marvelous novel Love in the Time of Cholera, by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The author will earn close to $3 million in the deal thanks to a production bonus that was also tacked on. The deal for the epic and complicated love story was nearly two years in the making.
