Fine Line is Out to Sea
Fine Line has acquired the North American distribution rights to the Alejandro Amenabar film Out to Sea, which will screen in competition at Venice's film festival. Amenabar, who previously directed such films as Nicole Kidman's The Others and Abre los Ojos (which Cameron Crowe remade as Vanilla Sky), directed, co-wrote, edited and scored the film, which stars Javier Bardem as Spaniard Ramon Sampedro. Sampedro fought a 30-year battle to establish his right to die. Fine Line plans to release the film sometime in November or December so that it will be eligible for awards contention.
