Belle gets a Call

Camilla Belle will star in Screen Gems' remake of When a Stranger Calls. Simon West is directing from a screenplay by Jake Wade Wall. The original film was released in 1979 and starred Carol Kane as a babysitter who kept receiving phone calls from a voice that asks, "Have you checked the children lately?" It was the film that brought us the infamous line "the calls are coming from inside the house!" Belle will play the role that was originated by Kane.

West in talks for horror redo

Simon West, who previously directed Laura Croft: Tomb Raider, is in talks with Screen Gems to helm their remake of the 1979 film When a Stranger Calls. Carol Kane starred in that chriller about a babysitter who is continuously traumatized by a caller who keeps asking her if she has checked on the children. When she calls the police, she hears the famous line, "The calls are coming from inside the house." Jake Wade Wall wrote the screenplay for the update.

Screen Gems says yes to Stranger

Sony's Screen Gems is looking to remake the cult horror films When a Stranger Calls and When a Stranger Returns. Jake Wadewall is scripting the remake of the first film, which was released by Sony in 1979. The original starred Carol Kane as a high school babysitter who is traumatized by a person on the telephone who repeatedly asks her, "Have you checked the children lately?" When she calls the police, she is informed that the calls are coming from inside the house.
