Cast signs up for more Basic Instinct
Charlotte Rampling and David Thewlis are set to co-star in Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction, which will be released in North America by MGM/Sony. They join Sharon Stone, who starred in the original, and David Morrissey in the movie written by Leora Barish and Henry Bean. This time, the story is set in London and Catherine Trammell finds herself once again on the wrong side of the law. She meets a man who might just be up to matching wits with her - a Scotland Yard criminal psychologist (Morrissey). Rampling will play a psychiatrist compatriot of the Morrissey character, and Thewlis will portray a police officer.

Morrissey has Instinct
David Morrissey will play the male lead role opposite Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction. Michael Caton-Jones will direct from a screenplay by Leora Barish and Henry Bean. In the film, Stone's character, Catherine Tramell, will relocate from San Francisco to London, where she soon finds herself running afoul of police. Morrissey will portray a criminal psychologist assigned the task of evaluating her by Scotland Yard.

Basic Instinct 2 closer to reality
After the dust has been settled on the lawsuits involved in the production of Basic Instinct 2, the film is drawing nearer to getting a greenlight. Financing has been secured from German film fund IM3. Though there has been no official announcement, the budget is expected to exceed $70 million. Much of the reason for the foreign investment is that there is a great deal of interest in a sequel to the first film in the international market.

Basic Instinct 2 is back on
After a long, drawn-out, on-again/off-again development history, Basic Instinct 2 is back into the "on" phase as Michael Caton-Jones is in negotiations to direct. This move takes place within two months of C-2, the producers, settling a lawsuit with actress Sharon Stone over the failure to produce a sequel. The actress will bring Catherine Tramell, the manipulative, seductive novelist back to life. MGM (or whichever studio buys them) will distribute.
