Cast lines up for Silent Hill
After last weekend's announcement that Radha Mitchell will play the lead role in the adaptation of videogame Silent Hill, a number of other cast members have signed on. While Mitchell will portray Rose, a woman searching for her lost daughter in the ultra-creepy city of Silent Hill, Jodelle Ferdland (Terry Gilliam's upcoming Tideland) will play the child. Sean Bean has the role of Rose's husband, and Laurie Holden is a police officer. Deborah Kara Unger, Kim Coates and Tanya Allen are also onboard. Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) is directing the film from a screenplay by Roger Avary.

Mitchell goes to Silent Hill
Radha Mitchell is set to star in the adaptation of the popular videogame franchise Silent Hill. Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) is directing from a screenplay by Roger Avary (Rules of Attraction). The game tells the story of Rose, who is desperately searching for her daughter in the terrifying town known as Silent Hill, where both of them are trapped.

Avary going to Silent Hill
Roger Avary is adapting the screenplay for the theatrical version of the Konami videogame franchise Silent Hill. Brotherhood of the Wolf's Christophe Gans is onboard to direct. At this point, Focus Features is already handling overseas sales, and will also offer the property up for sale at the upcoming AFM convention. The first three videogames in the Silent Hill series center around a mother and daughter who a searching for the secrets of the seemingly abandoned town of the title. The fourth game takes a different direction, centering around a male character who is trapped in his apartment except by way of a hole that leads him to an alternate - and scary - universe. The movie is most likely to focus on the plot of the earlier games.
