Sevigny goes to Zodiac
Chloe Sevigny has joined the cast of Zodiac for director David Fincher and Warner Bros./Paramount. She'll play the girlfriend of Robert Graysmith, a cartoonist at the San Francisco Chronicle who tried to solve the mystery of the infamous Zodiac serial killer. The Zodiac roamed throughout the San Francisco area from 1966-1978 as he committed at least 37 murders. He would document his own crimes by sending sarcastic letters to the newspaper. Jake Gyllenhaal will play Graysmith.

Oldman goes to Zodiac
Gary Oldman has signed on for a role in the serial killer thriller Zodiac for Warner Bros. He'll play attorney Melvin Belli, a lawyer who received a letter from the killer in which the Zodiac stated that he hoped to maintain enough control not to kill a ninth and tenth person. David Fincher is directing the film from a screenplay by Jamie Vanderbilt. Oldman joins a cast that already includes Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal and Anthony Edwards. The movie is based on two Robert Graysmith non-fiction books: Zodiac and Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America's Most Elusive Serial Killer Revealed.

Edwards finds sign of Zodiac
Anthony Edwards has joined the cast of the David Fincher-directed Zodiac, the movie about the San Francisco area serial killer. He will play the partner of the lead investigator on the case (Mark Ruffalo). Robert Downey Jr. and Jake Gyllenhaal will also star. The movies are based on the books Zodiac and its sequel Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America's Most Elusive Serial Killer Revealed, by Robert Graysmith.

Cast, director sign up for Zodiac
Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. are all set to star in Zodiac, a joint production between Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. David Fincher will direct the film, which Jamie Vanderbilt is adapting from two true-crime books by Robert Graysmith - Zodiac and Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America's Most Elusive Serial Killer Revealed. Gyllenhaal will play Graysmith, a cartoonist for the San Francisco Chronicle who started to track the mystery surrounding the Zodiac killer. That serial killer was a nightmare in San Francisco from 1968-1978, with at least 37 murders committed and a habit of sending letters to the newspaper to document what he had done. Ruffalo will play the lead investigator in the case, while Downey will portray a reporter.

Zodiac killer's story heads to screen
Warner Bros and Paramount Pictures are in talks to co-finance Zodiac, a thriller centering on the events of the Zodiac serial killer. The movie will look at the efforts of three people who worked to bring the killer to justice. As they worked to try to locate the killer, their own lives were heavily affected. The true case took place from 1966-1978, as 37 people were murdered.
David Fincher is currently in negotiations to direct from a screenplay by Jamie Vanderbilt. The story is adapted from Robert Graysmith's 1986 true-crime book Zodiac and its 2002 sequel Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America's Most Elusive Serial Killer Revealed.
