Guillory goes for Eragon
Sienna Guillory, a British model/actress, will have the lead female role in the Fox 2000 film Eragon. Based on the bestselling Christopher Paolini kids' book, the movie has already begun shooting under the direction of Stefen Fangmeier. The movie will also star Ed Speleers in the title role along with Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Djimon Hounsou. The story centers on an unlikely hero who discovers a strange, dinosaur-type egg. This find ultimately leads him to become a Dragon Rider and tasked with determining the fate of the world. Guillory will play Arya, an elf who served as guardian of the egg up until she was captured by imperial forces.

Eragon ready to go
Fox 2000 is ready to begin production on Eragon, an adaptation of the bestselling Christopher Paolini novel, on August 1st. The film has been scheduled for a June 16, 2006 release for some time. Stefen Fangmeier, a former ILM visual effects guy who has worked on such films as Signs, The Perfect Storm and Twister, will make his directorial debut. Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Djimon Hounsou will star in the film. Ed Speleers, a newcomer, will play the title character, a teenage farm boy who discovers a dinosaur egg in his home country of Alagaesia. This find ultimately leads him on an adventure where he becomes a Dragon Rider and will battle an evil king to determine the fate of his own world. Peter Buchman adapted the screenplay, which has since been re-written by Larry Konner and Mark Rosenthal.
Author Paolini was a mere 15-years-old when he started writing Eragon. He's now 21-years-old, and the sequel to the book will be published in August. The series is planned as a trilogy.

Director chosen for Eragon
Stefen Fangmeier is set to make his directorial debut on Eragon, an adaption of the Christopher Paolini fantasy novel about a youth who finds a dragon egg that ultimately leads him to become a knight and battle an evil king. Once he learns that he is the last remaining Dragon Rider, his magical powers allow him to set events in motion. Peter Buchman adapted the screenplay for Fox.
