Butler to Star in Priest

Gerard Butler is in negotiations to star in horror flick Priest for Screen Gems, to be directed by Andrew Douglas (Amityville Horror). The movie is described as a vampire Western, and is about a rogue priest who disobeys the laws of his church by teaming up with a sheriff and priestess to hunt down a group of vampires who kidnapped his niece. Butler's previous experience includes The Phantom of the Opera and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Priest ready for big screen

Andrew Douglas will direct Priest for Screen Gems, with production scheduled to begin this summer. The movie is written by Cory Goodman and will be based on the Tokyopop manga created by Min-Woo Hyung. The story is a Western full of vampires, centering on a warrior priest who disobeys church law by banding with a young sheriff and a priestess in an effort to find a group of renegade vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Sony sees a Priest

Sony's Screen Gems has purchased Cory Goodman's spec script Priest for Mike De Luca, Sam Raimi and Josh Donenwill to produce. This production group is separate from Raimi's other production shingle, Ghost House Pictures. The movie is a vampire western about a priest who disobeys his church law by joining forces with a sheriff and a priestess to find a band of vampires who have abducted his niece.
