New Director Set for Time Travel
Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) is in final negotiations with New Line Cinema to direct The Time Traveler's Wife. From the popular book by Audrey Niffenegger, it is a love story about a couple in which the man has a genetic disorder that causes him to involuntarily travel through time. The story has attracted a number of potential directors including Steven Spielberg, David Fincher and Gus Van Sant. No cast is set at the current time.

Van Sant goes for Time Travel
Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) is in talks to direct The Time Traveler's Wife, an adaptation of the popular Audrey Niffenegger novel, for New Line Cinema. Jeremy Leven (The Notebook) adapted the screenplay, which is a loose retelling of The Odyssey. The movie centers on a man who has a gene that allows him to travel through time, giving him the chance to visit his wife at different times throughout her life.
