Weinstein Likes Dylan Bio

The Weinstein Co. has obtained the North American and U.K. distribution rights to director Todd Hanynes' bio about Bob Dylan, I'm Not There. Hanyes (Far From Heaven) co-wrote the screenplay with Oren Moverman (Jesus' Son). The movie takes an unusual approach to the typical biopic. Sevearl different actors, including Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale and even Cate Blanchett will play the award-winning singer-songwriter at various stages of his life and music career. Others in the ensemble cast include Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Ben Whishaw, Marcus Carl Franklin, David Cross and Bruce Greenwood.

Ledger to Play Dylan

Oscar-nominated actors Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) are in negotiations to join the cast of Todd Haynes' Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There. Ledger will play one of seven actors to represent different aspects of the legendary singer's life and music. He replaces Colin Farrell. Other stars cast in the film include Christian Bale, Julianne Moore and Richard Gere.

Cast interested in Dylan biopic

Todd Haynes is in early talks with a number of stars for his biopic of Bob Dylan. Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell, Adrien Brody, Richard Gere, Julianne Moore and Charlotte Gainsbourg are all currently in negotiations for roles in the film. Financing is not yet secured, but should become solidified at Cannes. The unconventional biopic will follow seven different characters, with each one personifying a different aspect of Dylan's life and music.
