Storm's a comin'
The new Weinstein company, WeinsteinCo., will team with numerous other production companies to finance the adaptation of the Anthony Horowitz book Stormbreaker at $40 million - one of the most expensive independent British productions in recent years. The book is aimed at the same kids that read Harry Potter and has been extremely popular in England, and the adaptation will be directed by Geoffrey Sax from the author's own adaptation. The story centers on teenage spy Alex Rider, a 14-year-old orphan who has been unwittingly trained his entire life by his uncle in the skills he might need to become a secret agent, including scuba diving, mountaineering, martial arts, and more. When his MI6 agent guardian is killed, Rider discovers the truth and sets out on a dangerous mission for the British secret service.
