Writer ready for The Historian
David Magee, who previously wrote the screenplay for Finding Neverland, has been hired to adapt Elizabeth Kostova's novel The Historian for Columbia Pictures. The movie centers on a young European woman who sets off on a search when her father goes missing. His disappearance relates to a mysterious book that he received as a younger man, which set him searching for the grave of Vlad the Impaler.

Sony picks up vampire book
Sony Pictures Entertainment has paid seven figures for the rights to the upcoming novel The Historian, a book by Elizabeth Kostova to be released on June 14th. The book mixes both history and mythology to recreate the world of vampires. The story centers on a young woman who is searching Europe for her missing father. He is a man who took on the ominous task of locating Vlad the Impaler. While she is making her journey, a number of vampires try to stop her.
