Paramount Classics blows in the Wind
Paramount Classics has acquired the distribution rights to Prairie Wind, a movie that will center around a performance by Neil Young. Jonathan Demme will be directing the project, which will feature songs that Young will sing in public for the very first time on August 18th - 19th. He'll be performing at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, which Demme has reserved especially for the filming occasion. The songs to be performed will appear on Young's next CD, also titled Prairie Wind.
A number of guest musicians will appear alongside Young, including Emmylou Harris, Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns, the Fisk University Jubilee Singers and Carl Gorodetsky and the 12-piece Nashville String Machine.
Young was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain aneurysm in the spring, and the condition was corrected by surgery in April.
