Cast signs for 300
A number of cast members have signed on to star alongside Gerard Butler in director Zack Snyder's 300. Lena Headey, David Wenham, Dominic West, Vincent Regan and Rodrigo Santoro will all have roles in the film, which is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel by the same name. The story takes place during the historical battle of Thermopylae, in which King Leonidas (Butler) and his 300 Spartan warriors fought to the death against a massive army in Persia. This battle ultimately leads to Greece's becoming united and an eventual democratic state.

Butler is 300
Warner Bros. Pictures is set to make the ancient Greek war epic 300. The movie is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel by the same name. Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead) will direct, and Gerard Butler (The Phantom of the Opera) has been signed to star. The movie centers around 300 elite Spartan fighters who were led by King Leonidas (Butler). They fought to the death against the massive invasion from King Xerxes' army during the battle of Thermopylae. The skirmish took place in 481-480 B.C. Folklore says that the bravery of the 300 inspired Greece to rise up against the Persians, thereby making a beginning for democracy.
Snyder adapted the screenplay along with his writing partner, Kurt Johnstad. The movie will use stylized renderings that will strongly resemble the illustrations in the graphic novel.
