Disney chief blames release date as reason for poor box office returns
Disney CEO Robert Iger said Prince Caspian's competitive May 16th release date is the reason the fantasy film has performed so poorly at the box office, scoring just $151 million worldwide so far. (In comparison, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe earned nearly $750 million worldwide during its Christmas 2006 run). Prince Caspian's release date fell less than two weeks after Iron Man and just six days before the new Indiana Jones. Though it's funny, considering the studio specifically moved the franchise to the summer to make way for The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep.

The hope is for the film to be released in December of 2007. The children from the original film will return to reprise their roles.
