Catholic League plans crusade against Ron Howard pic
The Catholic League will do battle with Ron Howard's Angels and Demons. Claiming the project has an anti-Catholic agenda, the league said it will send out news releases that discuss the falsehoods in Dan Brown's book and Howard's feature. Angels and Demons will bow in theaters on May 15th.

WGA strike halts Angels & Demons
The WGA writers strike claimed its first motion picture casualty. Columbia Pictures released a statement, stating the feature would be postponed because its current draft is not ready to go before the cameras.

Rome caters to Angels & Demons
Angels & Demons, prequel to the 2006 film The Da Vinci Code, will begin filming early next year after the Municipality of Rome approved required filming permits. The film, which is expected to be in theaters in December 2008, will again be directed by Ron Howard. The franchise is based on the best-selling series by Dan Brown.

Sony Greenlights Da Vinci Prequel
Sony Pictures has signed Akiva Goldsman, writer of The Da Vinci Code screenplay, to also write Angels & Demons. Angels was author Dan Brown's first religious thriller which followed the adventures of professor Robert Langdon. In the story, Langdon attempts to solve a murder and stop a plot of an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave. The book was published in 2000 and the success of Da Vinci helped it to also become a top seller.
