Ferrell to Play Semi-Pro
New Line Cinema will develop Semi-Pro, which will star Will Ferrell in a comedy about 1970s pro basketball. The star will play Jackie Moon, a flamboyant owner, player and coach of a fictional pro team from Michigan in the final year of the American Basketball Association. Moon is a former second-rate player from the NBA who is hoping for a chance at redemption. Also attached to star is Woody Harrelson. New Line executive Kent Alterman will make his directorial debut on the film, and Scot Armstrong (Old School) is writing the script.
