Mos Def, Union jump back to 1950s Chicago
Mos Def (16 Blocks) and Gabrielle Union (ABC's Ugly Betty) will play Chuck Berry and Geneva Wade, girlfriend of Muddy Waters, in Cadillac Records, writer-director Darnell Martin's 1950s period piece about the founder of Chess Records, Leonard Chess, and the label's artists. The actors join already signed cast members Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Wright and Beyonce Knowles. Cadillac Records is currently filming in New Jersey.

Knowles to exec produce 1950s period film
Beyonce Knowles (Austin Powers in Goldmember) will star and executive produce Cadillac Records, a 1950s period film about record company Chess Records, its founder Leonard Chess and the lives of some of the artists from the label, like Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and Chuck Berry. In it, the 10-time Grammy winner will play Etta James. Other cast members include Adrien Brody (Chess), Jeffrey Wright (Waters), Cedric the Entertainer (Willie Dixon) and Columbus Short (Little Walter)

Martin gets a Cadillac
Darnell Martin (Their Eyes Were Watching God) will direct Cadillac Records from a story he conceived as a screenplay idea. Sony is handling production of the project. The movie is set in the Chicago music scene during the 1950s and will feature such characters as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Elvis Presley.
