Paramount picks its villain
Chris Eccleston (NBC's Heroes) will portray the villainous Destro in G.I. Joe, Paramount's liv-action take on the popular kids toy. The role originally went to David Murray, who later had to pull out because of visa issues.

Tatum joins G.I. Joe force
Channing Tatum (Step Up) is the latest actor to join the G.I. Joe team, Paramount's live-action take on the popular kids toy. Tatum will play Duke, a leader of the crew, a role originally planned for Sam Worthington. Other cast members include Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Marlon Wayans, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Stephen Sommers (The Scorpion King) will direct from a script penned by Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End).

Trio joins G.I. Joe flick
A trio of actors, Rachel Nichols (The Amityville Horror), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (ABC's Lost) and Said Taghmaoui (The Kite Runner), joined the cast of G.I. Joe, a live-action film from director Stephen Sommers. Stuart Beattie wrote the latest screenplay.

Miller enlists in G.I. Joe
Paramount Pictures' big budget G.I. Joe adaptation has enlisted its first actor: Sienna Miller (Stardust). The film, to be released summer 2009, is a live-action take on the Hasbro toys, comic book and TV series. Stephen Sommers (The Scorpion King) will direct.
