MGM goes ahead with Red Dawn remake
After months of speculation, MGM confirmed it will indeed craft a Red Dawn remake. The studio hired Carl Ellsworth to handle scripting duties. "The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in," Ellsworth told The Hollywood Reporter. "As 'Red Dawn' scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"

MGM confirms two '80s remakes
MGM said 1984's Red Dawn and 1987's Robocop are two candidates for a theatrical remake. Red Dawn is about a group of American rebels fighting Soviet forces, while Robocop centers on a police office who is murdered and then recreated as a super-human cyborg.
