Taylor Lautner to reprise Jacob role
Taylor Lautner will be back as Jacob Black in the sequel to Summit's Twilight, New Moon. The character had a minor role in the first film, but will have a significantly larger one in the sequel. Some speculated that Lautner would not be able to fit the bill of Jacob in New Moon, because in the book the character is older and much bulkier. However, the actor was said to have been gaining weight in his bid to play the character another time.

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will not helm its sequel, New Moon. The targeted end of 2009 or early 2010 movie apparently does not work with the director's required prep time for a film. She was originally thought to be a candidate to direct New Moon, but word recently began circulating in the industry that her relationship with Summit Entertainment was not exactly smooth.
