Lionsgate's Push turns Precious
To differentiate itself from Summit Entertainment's sci-fi flick Push, which opened earlier this month, Lionsgate changed the name of its ghetto-set Sundance Darling, Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire, to Precious: Based on the Novel by Sapphire. Summit claims a number of people confused its supernatural-themed title with Lionsgate's indie drama.

Lionsgate, Weinstein Co. brawl over distribution rights
Both Lionsgate and the Weinstein Co. filed dueling lawsuits Wednesday against each other over the Sundance darling, Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire. The lawsuits throw into question who owns the urban drama's distribution rights. Lionsgate claims TWC doesn't have "any right, title or interest" in the movie.

Lionsgate picks up Sundance favorite
Lionsgate acquired North American rights to Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire, winner of the grand jury and audience prizes at Sundance. Directed by Lee Daniels (Monster's Ball), the project is an inner-city drama starring Mo'Nique and newbie Gabourey Sidibe.
