Gained 40 pounds in less than two months in order to play title character in Muriel's Wedding; later did similar feat for In Her Shoes. Performs in a band called Toni Collette and the Finish; her husband is her drummer. Had to turn down lead role in Bridget Jones' Diary due to a commit for a Broadway play Haley Joel Osment gave her the creeps back then and he still gives her the creeps now.
