From writer/director Rodrigo Garcia comes this series of vignettes about women and relationships, boasting a strong ensemble cast. The movie looks into the lives of nine different women. Each brief episode is shot in real-time and offers only a brief snapshot from which the audience must draw their own conclusions about the totality of each character's complexity.
Various vignettes star Elpidia Carillo as a woman in prison who wants nothing more than to speak to her daughter; a married and pregnant Robin Wright Penn running into an old flame while at the supermarket; an unwanted session of True Confessions for Holly Hunter; and others that feature such actresses as Lisa Gay Hamilton, Amanda Seyfried, Amy Brenneman, Sissy Spacek, Kathy Baker, Glenn Close and Dakota Fanning.
The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005, and has been the beneficiary of generally positive buzz. Magnolia Pictures, the distribution arm owned by Mark Cuban, acquired distribution rights for North America and will be responsible for putting the film in theaters. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
