137/166 David Mumpower Even after several moments of quiet introspection, I still don't understand the purpose of the 90210 story arc. And that internal debate was the most entertainment I got from the film.

Domino Harvey's career began in expected fashion. Her beauty and grace made her a natural as a model. Ford, one of the top agencies in the history of the industry, chose her to be one of their most public faces. Domino shocked the industry when she chose to shun the spotlight and pick a new vocation.

Domino became a bounty hunter.

A model turned bounty hunter might sound like the fictional concept behind a Pamela Anderson syndicated series, but it's true. Domino Harvey, one of the most glamorous women in the world, quit her pampered lifestyle and went into the business of tracking down wanted fugitives. Domino is her story.

Sort of.

Several writers have taken a shot at this project over the years. Tony Scott has been attempting to develop the movie for a decade now, but he hadn't stumbled across the right tone for the concept. When Donnie Darko auteur Richard Kelly wrote a draft, that all changed.

Kelly's gamble was to write a biopic much more in the tone of Charlie Kaufman's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Rather than create a true-to-life re-telling of events, Kelly introduced unusual elements to the script. Variety reports that flashbacks, flash-forwards and even characters from Beverly Hills 90210 are brought into play. That's right, 90210 characters play a part in the script. Stating the obvious, Richard Kelly can bring the quirk.

After reading this latest spin on the Domino Harvey story, Tony Scott grew excited and was ready to shoot the film. All he needed to do first was make certain to cast the perfect woman to portray the titular lead. Enter Keira Knightley. The doe-eyed Brit proved in King Arthur that she could be all-too-convincing as a badass. Since mass audiences already know from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl that she can easily pull off the beauteous damsel look, her casting as Domino is perfect.

This is already an unusual story as a non-fictional undertaking. Combining the ultra-strange elements introduced by Kelly, Domino could wind up being one of the most distinct productions of the decade. (David Mumpower/BOP)
