BOP has a warm spot in its heart for Patrick Fugit. Ever since he starred as the precocious William Miller in our treasured Almost Famous, we've hoped that he might find a project that would allow his charm and talent to shine through. Here's hoping that Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas might be just such a film.

Fugit stars as the eponymous Bickford Shmeckler, an insular young man who has become completely immersed in his own world - one where he continually conceives of ever more grand intellectual ideas. He carefully guards these ideas in a book that he keeps close to him at all times. That doesn't keep the sexy Sarah (Olivia Wilde, who had a brief stint on The O.C.) from stealing the book, though. When this happens, Bickford must reach outside of himself to recover it.

Along with Fugit and Wilde, Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas features a solid cast. Cheryl Hines, who we love, co-stars, along with Matthew Lillard and John Cho (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle). Clark Gregg, better known to us as Sports Night's Calvin Trager, also has a supporting role.

Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas has already made several appearances on the festival circuit, where it has been quite well received. It's receiving a limited release, so it's possible that DVD might be the best chance for it to find an audience. We'll certainly be seeing it however we can. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
