A loose re-imagining of the 1965 John Wayne movie The Sons of Katie Elder, this John Singleton film promises to be a gritty revenge piece about four brothers who join forces to find and destroy the murderer of their mother.

The 1965 film featured Wayne, Dean Martin, Earl Holliman and Michael Anderson Jr. as four trouble-making and wandering brothers come together at their mother's funeral. Prevented from properly mourning by a scheming swindler named Hastings, who stole the boys' parents' ranch out from under them, the brothers try to redress the wrongs that were committed against their family.

Similarly, Four Brothers will update the story to a modern setting, with four adopted brothers being called home to bury the mother who brought them up. While attending the funeral and making arrangements, they learn that she may have been murdered, and set out both to solve the mystery and avenge her death. Mark Wahlberg has the primary role, and starring alongside him are such actors as Tyrese Gibson, Andre 3000, Garrett Hedlund and Terrence Dashon Howard. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
