Mysterious Skin is based on the acclaimed novel by Scott Heim, and explores the lives of two very different young men who learn that their chances at future happiness rely on them exorcising demons from their past.

At eight years of age, Brian Lackey (Brady Corbet) lost five hours of his life. He has no recollection of what happened during that missing time, but he does have suspicions about what took place. Now 18-years-old, Brian is tortured by nightmares and believes that during that mystery time, he may have been the victim of an alien abduction.

Meanwhile, Neil McCormick (Joseph Gordon Levitt) is a beautiful young man who is wise far beyond his years, living with a kind but promiscuous mother (Elisabeth Shue). The young man feels a substantial deal of curiosity about his sexuality, particularly in light of the fact that he believes he was in love with his Little League baseball coach at the age of eight. His resulting path has led him to be a hustler who is following a dangerous course.

Eventually, Neil's search for love takes him to New York City. At the same time, Brian's own personal quest leads him to Neil. Together, they are able to unlock their dark secrets from long ago. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
