It's formulaic to a degree, but terrifically winning. Ejiofor is wonderful. |

Well natured britcom is slight but ultimately satisfying. It's another Waking Ned Devine. |

Amusing but not daring enough given the subject's potential. |
After his father's sudden death, Charlie Price (Joel Edgerton) is taking over his family's traditional shoe business, Price and Sons, located in Northampton. It doesn't take long for Charlie to realize that business is not booming, though. Bankruptcy appears to be in the company's future, and the employees of the factory seem constantly at odds with a manager they see as inexperienced. To try to find solutions, Charlie heads to London.
While in London, a chance meeting with a sassy cabaret star named Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor) opens Charlie's eyes to an entirely new world of outrageous fashion. Lola is a big aficionado of erotic boots for men, which gives Charlie the idea that he might serve a niche market that currently has no one paying it any mind. Encouraged by a feisty worker at his factory (Sarah-Jane Potts), Charlie asks Lola to help him diversify his company so that they can make erotic women's boots for a male market.
Lola's arrival in Northampton isn't so easy, though. She finds herself ridiculed by the provincial factory workers, including Charlie's girlfriend, Nicola (Jemima Rooper). Nonetheless, Charlie and Lola are determined. Lola hides her insecurities and takes charge of the design section of the factory. Her creativity and brave face allow her to slowly win over the work force and bring the boots into existence. The big Milan shoe fair is coming up. Will the group be able to avoid conflict long enough to make a splash? (Kim Hollis/BOP)
