Starts off compelling, but loses steam and becomes somewhat repetitive. |
This documentary centers on the true story of Doug Bruce, a man who one rainy day woke up in Coney Island with no memory of anything about his life. Frightened and alone, this man had no idea who he was, where he was, or what country he was in.
In fact, Bruce was suffering from total amnesia. There were no doctors that could explain what had happened to him, nor could they inform him when his memory might return. The chances were pretty good that it would come back - 95% of patients do recover - but until that point, Bruce was completely reborn.
The process of Bruce's rediscovery of his life was filmed by old friend Rupert Murray. The documentary centers on the events that took place on the day he lost his memory, and then follows him as he rediscovers the world. He journeys from his new life in America back to Europe, which was his home for 30 years. There. he meets his family and friends and learns more about his past. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
