Strange Wilderness follows the Superbad model where the writers of the film create characters named after themselves and put them in ridiculous and embarrassing situations. There's another Superbad commonality in the presence of Jonah Hill in both films, which should tell you right away that the tone of the film is going to be goofy and fun.
Steve Zahn stars as animal enthusiast Peter Gaulke, with Allen Covert starring as sidekick Fred Wolf. The two host a wildlife show that is struggling to retain its audience, but the pair comes up with a plan to save it. They will chase after the one animal that is likely to both boost ratings as well as changing the landscape of the wildlife show genre forever. This animal is Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch.
Along with Zahn, Covert and Hill, the movie also features the lovely Ashley Scott, Harry "I haven't been in the public eye for awhile" Hamlin, Robert Patrick, Joe Don "Mitchell" Baker, Justin "the Mac guy" Long and Ernest Borgnine.
Amusingly, Strange Wilderness is rated R for "non-stop language" along with drug use and crude/sexual humor. We look forward to the non-stop language - will it be tamer or worse than a Kevin Smith film? Did they consult with David Mamet? We look forward to finding out. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
