Both halves are simply too long, but both serve their purpose of providing a good time. |

Surprisingly dull given the talent involved and the concept. |
Now that Quentin Tarantino has put his name to the horror film Hostel as its executive producer, he's ready to conquer the genre on his own terms. The ever-quirky director will join forces the equally unique Robert Rodriguez on this project, marking a reteaming for the duo in the aftermath of the highly successful Sin City.
Grind House will have Tarantino and Rodriguez each directing a 60 minute horror tale. Tarantino's portion will be called Death Proof and is a zombie tale, while Rodriguez's is titled Planet Terror and will be a slasher segment. During the "intermission" between the two hour-long films, fake movie trailers will be shown.
Given these maverick directors' propensity for the unusual and a certain fondness for gore, Grind House should be one of the more hotly anticipated horror films of 2006. The Weinsteins, who brought Tarantino and Rodriguez along with them when they split off from Disney, will provide studio support. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
