Set in Harlem, Preaching to the Choir's story features two brothers, one a hip-hop star named Zulu and the other a Baptist preacher at a local church. The relationship between the siblings has been in conflict for a long time, but suddenly Zulu finds his own life in danger due to a contract dispute with a record company owner. As a result, they begin to work through their issues so that they can help each other, for it seems that Zulu isn't the only one with problems. The young minister's church is losing membership and is becoming stale and steady as opposed to progressive. When Zulu arrives on the scene, though, curious teens begin to attend services and the gospel choir gets a facelift.
The film will see a small-scale, targeted release that should take strong advantage of its cast. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost's Mr. Eko) is featured, along with Eartha Kitt, Tim Reid and Patti LaBelle. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
