Japanese director Shohei Imamura brings us this film with an interesting collection of characters, including one in particular with an unusual physical trait.

The film follows a businessman named Yosuke Sasano (Koji Yakusho) who is trying to raise some cash to provide for his family. Many years ago, a friend of his named Taro (Kazuo Kitamura) told him about a valuable gold Buddha statue that he had stolen and hidden in a house beside a red bridge in a small town on the coast of the Sea of Japan. It was Taro's desire that Yosuke find the statue and keep it for himself.

Yosuke goes to the city where the statue was hidden and becomes enamored with the current resident of the house, Saeko Aizawa, played by Misa Shimizu. As Yosuke soon finds out, Saeko is a unique individual. Whenever she has an orgasm, she releases water. Lots of it. So much that when the torrent flows into the local river, fisherman rejoice, because it increases the number of fish in the river. Of course, the film isn't just about sex, but rather a look at the life of the town.

This film had its world premiere at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, followed by a North American premiere at the 2001 Toronto International Film Festival. It has been well received by audiences. If you're in the mood for something different, this movie may be the one for you. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
