Crocodiles are proving to be popular in 2006. First we have the crocodile-eating-people film Rogue, which has a set of Australian wetland tourists at the mercy of a killer beast (or two or three). Gustave takes place in South Africa, where it sends its characters on a wild adventure where the stakes are high.
Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) stars as a news producer who accompanies a reporter and cameraman (Orlando Jones) to South Africa. There, they are to track down an infamous 25-foot crocodile called Gustave and return him to the States. Why it is that newsmen and movie directors (such as Jack Black in King Kong) are well-equipped to capture gigantic animals, we may never know. Apparently, you can't leave that sort of thing to the experts.
Naturally, nothing goes as simply as planned. Gustave proves to be a dangerous and wily target who gives them nothing but trouble and fear. Meanwhile, they've also been marked for death by a warlord. Will the crocodile get his dinner? Will the news people film their own death? Their situation is a perilous one, and they'll have to use all their own smarts and skills to escape. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
