The Valley of Elah was the location where the Israelites camped during the famous biblical battle between David and Goliath. It lends its name to director Paul Haggis's next film, which is surely being positioned as an awards contender during the 2007 season.

In the Valley of Elah centers around a war veteran and his wife as they search for their son, a soldier who recently served a tour of duty in Iraq but has mysteriously disappeared since returning home. They are forced to turn to a police detective for assistance in locating him.

The pedigree for In the Valley of Elah is spectacular. The film stars Academy Award winners Tommy Lee Jones, Susan Sarandon and Charlize Theron and is written and directed by Haggis, himself the recipient of a couple of Oscars. It's a film that will likely deal with some difficult questions, which is frequently the case in Haggis's recent work. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
