This film is based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Po Bronson. Actor Jon Favreau, who has previous writing experience with the films Made and Swingers, wrote the screenplay.
The story takes place after the Internet bubble burst and left many investors high and dry. This ensemble comedy focuses on a team of four computer geeks who are challenged to quickly and cheaply develop a holograph machine that the public will want. However, the team finds that their design has been stolen by a more famous inventor, played by Enrico Colantoni (TV's Just Shoot Me).
Among the other stars in this movie are Jake Busey (Starship Troopers), Rosario Dawson (Josie and the Pussycats and the upcoming Men in Black II), and Adam Garcia (Coyote Ugly and Riding in Cars with Boys). The film was originally scheduled for release on April 5, 2002 and then September 13, 2002, but has found an official date now at the end of June. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
