The French smartly keep producing Charlie Chaplin-esque mistaken identity comedies. This one actually makes golddiggers respectible. |

If Audrey Tautou doesn't have a restraining order against me, she should get one. This is a decent French farce but her presence makes it worth the effort. |
Audrey Tautou's post Amelie career hasn't exactly taken off, despite a leading role in the The Da Vinci Code and its $750 million worldwide box office. International box office on the dozen or so films since Amelie has been lukewarm at best, with only her last collaboration with Amelie filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet, A Very Long Engagement registering any type of significant dollars. However, French filmmakers and US distributors both still have a warm place in their heart for her as she never longs for work and the majority of these films get theatrical releases in the US – the latest being Pierre Salvadori's ( Après Vous) Priceless.
Tatou plays Irene, a quirky, high priced call girl, who sets aside her gold-digging ways to have a one night stand with waiter Jean (comic actor Gad Elmaleh). She's out of his league because she's accustomed to penthouse hotel suites and fancy dinners with rich clients and her ultimate plan is to marry into money. But, as anyone who has seen Breakfast at Tiffany's knows, sometimes love can conquer all.
Picked up at 2007's European Film Market in Berlin by Samuel Goldwyn, Priceless is expected to have a small theatrical release in late 2007 with a DVD release in the first half of 2008. (Nouvelle Vague/BOP)
