Jack Nicholson returns to the big screen. He apparently took a huge cut in his usual salary of about $15 million to be in this film.

The story is about recent retiree Warren Schmidt, (Nicholson) who is trying to find out what he contributed to society. He feels he has wasted his life and is out to stop his daughter (Hope Davis) from doing the same. Part of his "therapy" is to write letters to a boy in Tanzania he is sponsoring. The other part is stopping his daughter's wedding. His journey to save his daughter takes him from Omaha, Nebraska to Denver, Colorado. He's determined to stop his daughter from marrying an idiotic mattress salesman (Dermot Mulroney).

Early screenings of the film has been very well received. Nicholson's performance is being praised as one of the best of his career. Sounds like we've got an Oscar contender on our hands here. Maybe Jack can win his fourth Best Actor Award. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
