In 1986, Michael Mann directed a movie called Manhunter. It introduced us to a character we've all come to love, Hannibal Lecter. But there was something missing from this film: Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Now that Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal did so well at the box office, they've decided to go back and re-make the first film in the series.
The story is similar to the other films. An FBI agent must dig into the mind (pun intended) of Dr. Lecter for help in solving a series of murders. The villain, Francis Dolarhyde, works in a film lab and picks his victims by studying their home movies. It's up to FBI agent Will Graham to stop this killer.
No official word yet, but it appears that Sir Anthony Hopkins will reprise his role as everyone's favorite cannibal. Ed Norton has agreed to play FBI agent Will Graham. Jeremy Piven is in talks to play a major role in the film as well.
This movie should be a big box-office hit. People love the creepy Dr. Lecter. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
